God is Always in a Good Mood

Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines the word mood as: “A conscious state of mind or predominant emotion or feeling; a prevailing attitude; a disposition; a receptive state of mind predisposing to action.”

This definition is but a glimpse into the mood of God towards His creation. God’s mood is completely objective while the human mood is often subjective and unsanctified. For example, if a person cuts me off on the road, it might make me mad and put me in a bad mood. In this case, I may have allowed another person’s actions to influence my thoughts, behavior, and potential actions. God is not subject to such emotional immaturity. His emotions are always pure. He never changes.

It makes no sense that God is mad instead of glad. We make statements like “Certainly we must do something to pay for disappointing God.” That is unredeemed thinking and certainly not true. God is in a good mood, and we do not have to do anything more to get God to love us! Zephaniah tells it all. Listen to this...The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17 NIV). That is our God!

Some will also ask, “Doesn’t God send trials and temptations to test our faith?” The Bible answers this so clearly in the book of James: Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust (James 1:13-14 NASB).

We keep confusing God with the enemy. God does not tempt. He always assures us that there is a way of escape from temptation (see 1 Cor. 10:13). Remember that Christ was tempted by the devil in the wilderness (see Luke 4:2). The book of Hebrews says, “For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted” (2:18). This does not say that He tempts, but rather that He comes to help those who are tempted. God is not tempting people. He is not making people sick or diseased. God does not have an angry disposition towards humanity. In Scripture you never see Jesus laying hands on someone to impart sickness to them. Instead, He healed everyone who came to Him (see Matt 4:24, 8:16, 12:15; Mark 3:10). 

Many times we quote Romans 8:28 to encourage ourselves during trying times: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him” (NIV). Although God makes all things work for good, He is not the author of all things. He will take what happens and use it for good, but He does not author or initiate everything that happens on this earth.

Don’t believe lies about the nature of God. Look at Scripture and the life of Christ, and you will start to recognize that God is always good.

It’s Time To Meet The Best Father

Even though some of us grew up in stable and functional homes, had good fathers, and are good fathers ourselves, we all need to know the best Father ever!

It is time to meet the true God and to know about His nature and character. I want you to clearly see the one who loves you with an everlasting love. Who is the one whose perfect love casts out all of your fears? The God who is always in a good mood!

It is okay to struggle with Him; He is a big God who can handle it. I know that God has received bad press and publicity from individuals who misrepresent Him. The true nature of God graciously volunteered His Son for you just so He could get you back. He is willing to accept you unconditionally and He wants to partner with you.
